Probably over 60 years ago a pioneering man called William Arnold-Taylor created ITEC the International Therapy Examination Council to create standards of training and examination of students within the beauty industry.
The demand for ITEC exams grew to international proportions and many new therapies including massage, sports massage and reflexology were added to the offering. Anold Taylor retired and around 2007 the company was bought by one of ITEC's chief examiners Jane Foulston.
Jane went on to sell the company to VTCT, the Vocational Training Charitable Trust which according to their website is a specialist awarding and assessment organisation offering vocational and technical qualifications in a range of service sectors. With more than 2,000 approved centres worldwide, VTCT has an ever-expanding list of centres throughout the UK and Ireland, with a growing international presence.
In October 2019 to establish ownership over all the ITEC qualifications, VTCT was inserted into the name of the qualification and ITEC was put in brackets. We now therefore offer the VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for The Complementary Therapist.
The exam of 50 multiple choice questions in 55 minutes remains the same and the syllabus has been refreshed but has minor changes.
"I am delighted to have passed and greatly appreciate the support and flexibility that you have given me during this extended process of study. Thanks also for the guidance and resources - it has been a really excellent and thorough learning experience and I will be giving you 5 stars on the evaluation "
