Have A Compass: To give you direction

Published on 28th June 2019

Many of us in life try to do too much in a day and not enough in a year. What happens is that at the end of the year we look back and think, “where did that year go? What happened, I had high hopes for this year!!”

The reason for this is insufficient planning and not having the compass to ensure we navigate our vision in the right direction.

A simple yet highly effective planning tool is to divide the year into quarters and to set goals and targets for each quarter. I spoke about this in Guiding Principle 1 and suggested you identify your top 5-10 projects for the quarter.

So how are they going? Have you ticked off some of the “to do’s” within each project?

Have you made some progress? If so go and celebrate!! Well done and a huge pat on the back!

If you haven’t ticked off anything from the lists or haven’t set your top 5-10 projects, do it now! Re-read Guiding Principle 1 to help you. To get into the habit of planning is a really important discipline to have and will absolutely accelerate your success.

It also makes things real and creates more of a sense of urgency.

Let me explain.

If you are getting ready to go to work, and you’ve got an hour –how long does it take you?

An hour right?

If you’ve got 20 minutes to get ready - how long does it take you?

20 minutes- agreed?

So if you don’t plan your business, and you don’t have time frames what will happen?

NOTHING!!!!!!

Stuck?

Sometimes we can get stuck over a decision to be made, an action to take or something that needs to be said. And sometimes it is good to pause for a while to reflect. Be open for the way to unfold before you. Sometimes by talking to someone who is one or more steps ahead of you, they will be able to see the wood for the trees and help you navigate through. If you are completely stuck, give my office a call to make an appointment with me and let me help you! I will give you 15 minutes of my time for free!

Testimonials

"The anatomy and physiology courses are very easy to use, you don't have to be a computer wiz. The tutor giving the lectures is very good and it feels as if your are sitting in the classroom with her. I like the fact that you are able to pause the films to complete worksheets and that you can go back and watch the films over again. Overall, it's a very good course and well worth the money."
